A: At Scotty, we want you to ride confidently and safely, which is why we emphasize the importance of understanding your Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) certificate validity. Your CBT certificate is valid for 2 years from the date you pass your training. After the 2-year validity expires, you must retake your CBT if you haven't progressed to a full motorcycle license. We recommend planning your next steps early to continue mastering the road with Scotty!
A: No, you do not need to have completed a theory test before taking a Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) course at Scotty's. Our CBT course is designed to provide you with the essential practical skills and knowledge to ride safely on the road. While the theory test is important for obtaining a full motorcycle license later, Scotty’s comprehensive training focuses on practical riding skills, control, and safety awareness without requiring prior theory qualifications. This allows new riders to start gaining experience and confidence quickly.
A: After successfully completing your motorcycle training with Scotty, what you’re allowed to ride depends on your age. If you are 16, you can legally ride a 50cc moped. Once you reach 17 or older, you can upgrade to riding motorcycles or scooters up to 125cc with a maximum power output of 11kW. Remember, regardless of age, you must always display L-plates while riding to comply with the law. At Scotty, we’re passionate about helping you gain the skills and confidence to master these bikes safely and enjoy every ride!
A: At Scotty's, you don’t need to bring your own bike because we provide a range of well-maintained motorcycles, including both automatic and manual options, so you can focus entirely on learning and mastering the road. We also supply essential safety gear such as helmets and gloves to ensure your protection. However, we highly recommend wearing your own sturdy clothing, like thick jeans and durable boots, to maximise comfort and safety during your course. This combination of our quality equipment and your reliable clothing helps you ride confidently and get the most out of your training experience with Scotty's!
A: Absolutely! At Scotty's, we believe that mastering the fundamentals is key to riding confidently and safely. Before your on-road training session, you’ll need a solid understanding of the Highway Code, especially road signs, traffic lights, and roundabouts. This knowledge is essential because it ensures you're prepared for real-world riding scenarios and helps you make smart, quick decisions on the road. In fact, during your session, our instructor may quiz you on these topics to reinforce your learning and boost your confidence. So, we recommend brushing up on the Highway Code to get the most out of your time with Scotty and take your riding skills to the next level!
